Acorn TV does carry a lot of UK content, such as the wonderful series Doc Martin. It works much like BritBox, installed as an app, and billed through my account for $4.99/month. If you’d like to expand your viewing options beyond the UK, consider Acorn TV. It may not have the depth of other services like Acorn TV or Britbox, but the truth is that one of the most brand-defining shows in Amazon Prime history, Fleabag, is from the great British writer. And for old-school soap fans, BritBox also carries Coronation Street. I can also watch many of the excellent mystery series that the UK is so famous for, such as Midsomer Murders and Vera. Through BritBox, I can finally watch all the recent episodes of EastEnders, along with other BBC shows like Question Time and Prime Minister’s Questions (to keep up with all things Brexit). BritBox does not provide a live feed (I use the SkyNews app for that), but BritBox’s library of content is quite impressive. I pay a $6.99/month subscription fee, which is added to my Prime account. I watch BritBox using an app I downloaded to my Apple TV. Fortunately for me, a new online TV service had just launched: BritBox. Last year, the BBC finally relented and made EastEnders (and much of their other content) available to third parties for licensing and rebroadcast around the world. That led me (and many others) to find alternate ways of getting my daily fix of life in London’s raucous East End, which usually involved dodgy proxy servers. I had to subscribe to BBC America to watch EastEnders, but they stopped carrying the show a few years after I started watching it. It has been running on BBC One since 1985. Way back in 2001, I became hooked on a British soap opera called EastEnders. It seems “cutting the cord” is a perennially popular topic, given the number of queries I receive, so I decided to share more about my online viewing habits.
