The Pacific coastline will see relief from the heat, as the mercury only climbs into the upper 60s and low 70s. The West Coast will continue to bake in above average temperatures, as highs reach the 80s and low 90s across the interior Northwest, Great Basin and central California Valley. The Pacific coast may see morning fog, but no rainfall is expected. Rain and snow showers are possible along the U.S.-Canada border in the morning, but the clouds will part by the afternoon. The rest of the nation, in particular the Northeast and Midwest, will be dry and sunny throughout the day. Rainfall may be seen as far west as Nevada. Isolated thunderstorms are expected for western Texas and the Oklahoma Panhandle.
Heavier rainfall is expected for the High Plains. The western half of the country will remain quiet in the morning, but scattered showers will quickly develop by the afternoon. Moisture will extend into the Carolinas by the evening. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected across the central Gulf coast, with the potential for late afternoon thunderstorms. Pockets of rainfall drench the Gulf coast today, as isolated thunderstorms take aim at the central and southern Plains.Ī stationary front over the Deep South will allow for a build-up of low pressure over the region.
